Installation instructions for the ARP harmonic balancer bolt, part #147-2503, for the Cummins 6.7L 24V diesel. ARP fasteners provide superior clamping strength over factory hardware. This guide covers cleaning, inspection, lubrication and the correct torque procedure.
IMPORTANT: The published torque value assumes the threads, underhead and washer-contact surfaces are lubricated with ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant. Using a different lubricant or installing dry will change the achieved clamp load.
Installation
Check the part number(s) for your application against the part number(s) listed on the instruction sheet.
Clean and inspect all hardware prior to installation. Look for obvious defects or shipping damage, plus proper fit, length and dimension.
To ensure proper thread engagement and accurate torque readings, clean the threads in the end of the crankshaft. Chase them if necessary with a thread chaser or tap.
Lubricate the threads of the bolts, the underhead of the bolts and the front face of the balancer (where the washers contact the balancer) with ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant. Install the washers onto the bolts with the chamfered side facing the bolt head, then install the bolts hand tight.
Tighten the balancer bolts to 90 ft-lbs using ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant.
