BD Aisin HD Transmission Pan Installation – 2013+ Ram 3500-5500 (AS69RC)
Installation instructions for the BD Aisin HD transmission pan, part #1061535, for 2013+ Ram 3500-5500 Cummins diesels equipped with the Aisin AS69RC. The deeper pan adds fluid capacity and cooling. Replacement of the transmission filter is recommended; check kit contents before starting.
BD Aisin HD Transmission Pan (#1061535) — deep, finned cast pan for added fluid capacity and cooling.
IMPORTANT: Please read all instructions before beginning installation. Replacement of your transmission filter is highly recommended whenever the pan is removed.

Fluid & Torque Specifications
Transmission fluid: 10.7 – 17.2 quarts of MOPAR® ASRC ATF (or equivalent, e.g. Mobil ATF 3309)
Pan bolts: 62 in-lbs
Drain plug: 20 ft-lbs
1/8″ NPT (temperature port) plug: 12 ft-lbs
Transmission mount nuts: 40 ft-lbs
Installation
Park the vehicle on flat, level ground or on a lift, with the park brake applied and the transmission in Park.
Place a drain pan under the transmission pan. Using a 3/4″ socket or wrench, remove the drain plug and allow the transmission to drain completely.
Remove the drain plug with a 3/4″ socket or wrench and let the transmission drain fully.
Using a 10mm socket, remove the 20 bolts securing the pan to the transmission case.
NOTE: The rear 4 pan bolts can be difficult to access. See the Tech Tip at the end of these instructions for additional access.
Remove all 20 pan bolts using a 10mm socket.
Remove the pan from the transmission and clean the pan gasket sealing surface on the transmission case.
NOTE: If the pan is stuck to the case, tap the side of the pan lightly with a soft-faced mallet until it breaks free.
Clean the gasket sealing surface on the transmission case before fitting the new pan.
Clean the inside of the BD pan with brake parts cleaner (or equivalent), then line up the new gasket with the bolt holes in the case.
Using a 5mm Allen socket, loosely install a pan bolt and washer on two opposing corners of the pan to hold it in position.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that a new transmission filter be installed while the pan is off.
Loosely install a bolt and washer on two opposing corners (arrows) to hold the pan in position.
Using a 5mm Allen socket, install the remaining bolts and washers, then tighten all pan bolts in a crisscross pattern and torque to 62 in-lbs. Repeat the crisscross sequence to ensure every bolt is fully torqued.
Tighten all pan bolts in a crisscross pattern and torque to 62 in-lbs.
Apply a small amount of ATF to the drain plug O-ring. Using the 5/16″ Allen driver, install and torque the magnetic drain plug to 20 ft-lbs.
Lube the O-ring with ATF and torque the magnetic drain plug to 20 ft-lbs.
Using a 7/16″ socket, install and torque the 1/8″ NPT temperature port plug to 12 ft-lbs.
NOTE: A transmission fluid temperature gauge sensor can be installed in this port instead of the plug.
Install the temperature port plug (or a fluid temperature sensor) and torque to 12 ft-lbs.
Fill & Final Checks
Fill the transmission through the transmission fluid filler tube with MOPAR® ASRC ATF or Mobil ATF 3309. Add approximately:
10.7 quarts for a drain-and-fill / filter change
17.2 quarts from dry, after a full transmission rebuild
Start the truck and let it idle in Park for at least one minute. Move the gear selector through all gear ranges, then check the fluid level while at idle in Park.
Road test the vehicle and check for leaks. Verify the fluid level is correct at normal operating temperature, with the truck at idle in Park.
Tech Tip — Accessing the Rear Pan Bolts
On some trucks, the rear 4 pan bolts are difficult to access. To gain additional clearance:
Using a 15mm socket, remove the 3 nuts from the transmission mount.
Raise the transmission with a service jack to gain more clearance, then work the rear pan bolts.
Once the pan is installed, lower the transmission back down and torque the transmission mount nuts to 40 ft-lbs.
Transmission mount nut locations (remove with a 15mm socket) and service jack placement for extra clearance.
